As I'm working thru some hard homework stuff, I thought I'd remind myself of why I'm actually doing a PhD. It's so that I can make my future students address me using an awesome honorific. I've tweaked mine again, and I think I'm liking this new version of my future title:

Ohhh man, you're already questioning your sanity for doing the doctorate???
Good thing you're keeping a record of all the reasons why you are. They're very helpful for looking back on all those moments you are falling to pieces.
By the way, I listened to the first one - do you cry every time someone says morphology? Or did your homework break up with you??? BAD HOMEWORK!
I mean, I've heard music schools be compared to religious conversions of sorts - are language arts programs more like abusive relationships? Just curious.

Everything sounds so much cooler in Portuguese, ne? By the by, I can't even count all the times I've asked myself "why on earth am I doing this?" Some days I kept keeping on only because I pride myself on following through with what I start. There will be many more days of "WHY?!" and probably even more of "WHY ME?!" But I have faith (not a perfect knowledge, mind you!) that in the end it will all be worth it.
Heidi, you're funny. I am feeling a bit slapped silly by my current HW assignment. But it's due tomorrow at 2pm, so it'll all come out in the wash by then anyway.
Also, grandiose titles for all 4 of us, I say!!! That's a thing we can have perfect knowledge of, our right to a grandiose title. ;)
Wow I hadn't even considered what I want my grandiose title to be at the end of this...I sense some fun pondering time coming up, as I consider possible options...
It'll be the best part of your degree, coming up with the title. I'd say it's more important that the prospectus for the thesis.
