I don't care if people make fun of this idea, but the first time I filled my new-to-me car up with gas, I averaged 23 miles to the gallon. But then I realized that my tires were sorta flat, so I filled them up to a better pressure. My last 3 MPG have been, 28 MPG, 27.1 MPG, and today's 30.4.
I didn't get the idea from Barack Obama, but this is why I like him. We totally see eye to eye on the minute details.
For those counting, I've gotten 192 more miles the last 3 tanks, which, at the 23MPG, has saved me no less than $33 and 8 gallons of gas.
This is pretty exciting to me, I tell you what.

Anyone else think this?
The little emblem on the front of the female Chinese gymnasts' uniforms reminds me of this.
Has anyone else thought the same thing?

OLYMPICS! OLYMPICS!
I seriously have to con myself into going to bed. I failed Friday to Saturday morning, crashing on the couch and sleeping intermittently. I love the Olympics.
Did you guys see the 33-year-old German gymnast (read the "It takes a village..." section)? And how about Dara Torres, swimming and medaling at age 41?
The thing I love about the Olympics is that more and more stories are going to emerge throughout the games.
And I never cry.

It's not a song stuck in my head
I don't just get songs stuck in my head, but words. They repeat over and over in my mind just like bits and pieces of songs. I think this might be due to my logolatry.
Today's word which was stuck in my head for something like 4 hours was recidivist. It just kept going over and over in my mind. It was frustrating.
Another word that's been in my head is edumacation. This is a problem because when I answer the phones at work I say, "Distance Education, this is Vanessa." I'm so afraid of saying, "Distance Edumacation, this is Vanessa."

What the documentaries will be about in 20 years
They'll talk about the Iraq War and they'll talk about the forgotten war in Afghanistan. We'll watch them discuss terrorism and how the term "war on terror" only emboldened these murderous fringe elements of society.
But when they make the documentaries about this presidency in 20 years, what they'll focus on is the Constitution and the rights of the American citizen. The documentarians will discuss how the definitions of rights were changed; they'll show us how the executive branch was stealthily able to overreach its bounds. We'll finally be able to see how people used the President unfairly to push their own agendas.
At the end of these documentaries, it'll show how we didn't fight enough for our Constitutional rights.
I just want to get this written down someplace. I've wanted to write this for months.
I have hope that we can change things, make them better. I'm more hopeful, probably, than people realize. I know we can make things better again, we can demand that government obey the law that they're sidestepping and then refusing to prosecute.
Anyway, I just wanted to write this down.
